About Us

Our Mission Statement

St. Agnes-Sacred Heart's mission is to assist families in the total development of their children within the traditions of the Catholic Faith. We are committed to academic excellence in accordance with each student's unique and God-given talents to communicate the teachings of the Catholic Church and to function as responsible students. To prepare our adults of the 21st century.

Our Philosophy

Our central message, as a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is that Jesus is the embodiment of love, the Good News, and the love we have for each other. Within a Christian environment we strive to meet the challenges of our ever-changing and diversified society. We unite in friendship, trust, and love as we gather to celebrate the Eucharist. The pastoral staff, school staff, and parents collaborate to broaden the students' understanding and experience of community. Service to the community is integral to imparting our Catholic Faith. We motivate our students to become independent learners, critical thinkers, and creative problem solvers in a Christ-centered community.

We believe that each human being is a child of God. We recognize the child as a total person and how the importance of a child's perception of self. As a faith-based school, we strive to foster the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of each student. Our school provides a nurturing, supportive environment in which children feel loved, valued and secure. This promotes the development of problem-solving skills, coping mechanisms, and independent thinking so that they may become self-directed, life-long learners. The intellect is shaped through appropriate educational activities designed to challenge able students and remediate those in need. Through our Christian values, children are encouraged to respect themselves and others, and to assume responsibility for their choices. Jesus' life is their model for Iiving; His teaching is a guide for growing.

As members of a community of faith, we are committed to further developing our knowledge/skills through continuous professional training in order to improve the quality of education. We share the belief that a cooperative effort is of the utmost importance in order to draw on each other's professionalism and expertise and to achieve our goals. Our caring atmosphere allows the faculty to motivate students and plan, facilitate, and direct learning activities. Because we recognize the parents as the primary educators of their children, open communication enables us to build productive partnerships.

Saint Agnes-Sacred Heart School follows the Archdiocesan guidelines in development of curriculum, including the subjects taught and allocation of time. Curriculum areas are periodically updated and programs adopted to challenge the individual capabilities of each student. The pastors, principals, and faculty determine the school management policy. The ultimate decision regarding educational policy rests with the administration.

Ongoing evaluations of both teachers and students are vital to the educational process. Teacher evaluations consist of formal and informal observations by the administration. Evaluation of student progress is utilized to affirm and support students and encourage them to improve their skills. Mastery of material is evaluated through independent activities and formal and informal assessments. St. Agnes-Sacred Heart School seeks to retain and recruit those who support the principles governing our existence.
